In 2017, FuturaDoctora was born out of a desire for transparency, an unwavering commitment to share both the triumphs and tribulations that pepper Melissa’s pursuit of a medical career. Melissa had a vision for FuturaDoctora beyond being a blog where she shared her journey – she wanted FuturaDoctora to become a resource for others pursuing medicine. In 2023, FuturaDoctora officially became a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to catalyzing change in the landscape of medicine. Rooted in a vision of inclusivity and empowerment, FuturaDoctora sets forth on a mission to uplift underrepresented communities, with a particular focus on empowering Latinas, on their journey in the field of medicine.
